Ong Bun Pension House in Iloilo - Hotel Review

Ong Bun Pension House in Iloilo

Since we were traveling under a strict budget, we asked help in getting us an affordable place to stay that is close to the client of the firm where I work in. What was recommended to us was this pension house named Ong Bun. We stayed here for 3 days, and I am about to share with you my experience staying here.

The Location
Ong Bun is situated nicely in the bustling city of Iloilo. It is, in a way, convenient because the Robinsons Iloilo is just a 7-minute walk away from the place. There’s also a 7-Eleven convenience store just before Robinsons.  There is also bank, Asia United Bank (AUB) just below the pension house. Hence, having low liquidity will not be a problem.

Note, however, that Ong Bun does not have anything fancy when it comes to its facade. In fact, you will not immediately recognize it, since you need to locate the stairs going up to the “lobby”. It may be shady at first, but you’ll get used to it.

The Pension House
As a pensions house, Ong Bun wants it simple and affordable. Hence, the lobby is just plain with some sofas that need some cleaning.  By the way, during our visit, Ong Bun was currently doing some repairs and renovation. This may explain the dirty sofa and other unsightly sights.

One good thing I was able to note is that there is a water dispenser somewhere in the lobby. Hence, if you are really in a thrift mode, you may have your water refills there.

The Room
There is nothing really exciting about the room. It literally just has the basics – bed, bathroom, air-conditioning unit and an LED TV (well, the TV seemed new, so it was a plus).

Inside the room you’ll find a towel, a soap and a shampoo. Nothing less, nothing more.

I personally can't give a positive recommend Ong Bun despite its affordability, but I wrote this for you to have your own assessment. In my case, I just didn’t like how cramped the room was, and how uncomfortable the vibe I was a getting there. I just so happened that I didn’t mind it much, since we only stayed there when we needed to sleep. Again, I leave everything up to you, and do share your experience here.
