How Much to Budget for Mooncake Dice Game Prizes

It's September and the Mid-Autumn Festival is just around the corner, and this means dice games here and there, especially among the Filipino-Chinese communities. Now, if you happen to be delegated to organize your barkada's dice game, or perhaps you are planning to host one in your company, one of the tedious tasks is identifying how much to allocate for the prizes. Hence, in this article, I'll make it fairly easy for you with this tool I made.

What is this tool about?
This Mooncake Dice Game Budgeting Tool allows you to identify how much to allocate per tier of prizes based on the total number of participants and the contribution each player will pay. If you are hosting for your company, the contribution might be the budget allocation per head.

The tool will also suggest how much groups you need to have, and how many participants shall each group consist. The general rule of thumb is that each group will have no more than 10 participants, so that the waiting time for the dice roll will not take too long. Also, this ensures a better distribution of prizes among the participants.

How to use the tool?
All you need to do is to input the following, these are to be typed in the grey boxes provided:
  • No of participants or players
  • Amount of contribution per player
Once you input the above, the rest will be automatically computed for you. It's that easy.

From there you can now use it as a guide for your shopping. Now, that is the most enjoyable part of the process. You have the flexibility to adjust the prizes per tier. These are mere suggestions and there are no hard rule as to how much to actually budget for each prize.

Guide for Interpreting Results
  • Budget for Prizes per Group - if the amount appears to be let's say P5,000, this means that you will allocate that amount for buying the sets of prizes for a group. If there are 3 groups in total, that means there will be 3 sets of P5,000 worth of prizes.
  • Price per piece - this is the equivalent cost per piece of the prize so that you can meet the budget
